NBA Predictions

AI NBA Predictions

A calibrated read on every NBA slate — moneyline, spread, and totals — with the model passing when the line looks fair.

Sandman Edge runs every NBA game through the same pipeline: live odds, team form, pace and efficiency, situational splits, betting splits, and star-player status flow into one continuously refreshed model. It projects each side’s score from five anchors — season-long form, recent form, a blended baseline, situational splits, and a pace-adjusted multiplicative model — then compares those projections to the market to find value.

The engine reads NBA across moneyline, point spread, and over/under totals. Over/unders use a Normal-distribution model (Normal CDF), which fits basketball’s roughly bell-shaped scoring. When a projection doesn’t clear the sport’s confidence threshold, it returns PASS — no forced action on a fair line.

What the model weighs

Pace & efficiency
Offensive and defensive ratings, possessions, and tempo set the baseline projection.
Rest & travel
Back-to-backs, road trips, and schedule density adjust expected output.
Injuries & rotations
Availability and depth-chart changes reshape both teams’ projections.
Betting splits
Where the sharp and public money sits, to flag reverse line movement.
Star-player form
Recent usage and scoring trends for the players who move a game.
Favorite-cover discipline
High-confidence spread favorites face stricter requirements — they cover less than bettors assume.

FAQ

How does the model pick NBA games?

It projects each team’s score from five anchors (season form, recent form, a blended baseline, situational splits, and a pace-adjusted model), then compares the projection to the market line for moneyline, spread, and total. When the gap clears the threshold, the pick is flagged; when it doesn’t, the model returns a PASS.

Does it bet every NBA game?

No. If a projection doesn’t clear the confidence threshold, the engine returns NO PICK. A PASS means the line looks fair and there’s no value to target — it is not counted as a loss.

What markets does it cover for the NBA?

Moneyline (straight winner), point spread (against the line), and over/under totals. Each market is graded independently — a strong moneyline read does not inflate the spread or total.
