The Edge projects every college-basketball matchup from a five-anchor framework — season-long form, recent form, a blended baseline, situational splits, and a pace-adjusted multiplicative model — tuned for the wider range of tempos and talent across Division I. Live odds, efficiency metrics, and matchup context feed a single continuously refreshed model that’s compared against the market for value.
The engine reads college basketball across moneyline, point spread, and over/under totals. Over/unders use a Normal-distribution model (Normal CDF), matching basketball’s roughly bell-shaped scoring. When a projection doesn’t clear the sport’s confidence threshold, it returns PASS — no forced action on a fair line.
The Edge’s college-basketball model weighs six factors before issuing a pick: tempo and efficiency (possessions and points per possession on both ends), matchup and conference context, recent form against each team’s season baseline, situational splits covering home, away and rest, betting-market splits and line movement, and a stricter bar before backing a heavy favorite to cover. Those inputs feed the same five-anchor projection used for the NBA — season-long form, recent form, a blended baseline, situational splits and a pace-adjusted model — calibrated for the far wider spread of tempos and talent across Division I, then compared against the market line to issue a graded pick or a PASS.
